Tremendous Thursday

Yesterday was super! Oh, wait, that is today and the Superman movie...all those commercials are getting to me.

Seriously though, yesterday was a really good day. Mi abuela came over and watched me while Mommy & Daddy took care of some car stuff. I was so excited that I hardly slept the entire time they were gone. So by the time Mommy & Daddy came home, I was pretty sleepy.

Which was a good thing since Daddy had a super (there's that word again) headache. I understood what I needed to do. So, I ate at 9:00, fell asleep until 2:30, ate again, and then slept until Daddy went to work.

I was such a good boy!

Holy Hotness Batman!

Oh wait, it's Superman that is being released. Sorry.

Speaking of movies, my Daddy is very upset that there is a movie coming out called Little Man that looks STUPID STUPID STUPID. Something called Little Man should be sweet and cute like me!

Okay, so yesterday was ridiculously hot in the valley. High around 107!

But we stayed nice and cool inside. The big news of yesterday was that I injured myself during one of my tantrums. I scratched my nose. :(

I guess these things happen, but Mommy & Daddy felt bad...so I let them!
I get to see Daddy's family this weekend! WOO HOO. I get to finally meet my Uncle Gary, and it has been awhile since I have seen Aunt Amy and Uncle Jason. I think they will be surprised how big I am.

Town Crier

During the day yesterday, Mommy & I had a good time. We relaxed, stayed out of the Florida like weather we have been experiencing. A nice casual day. The only problem was that I was a little more gassy than I have been recently. But it wasn't horrible.

Until Daddy came home. Then....well a picture says 1000 words. It was awful. I cried from around 5:30 until 10:00. I only stopped when I was eating. Finally all my crying wore everyone out, and I slept until 2 am, then ate again, and then slept until Daddy went to work.

I hope today is better.

Ugh, the weather

Did you know that if it wasn't for the weather, 75% of the world wouldn't know how to start a conversation?

Okay, so maybe I am making up that percentage, but it seems true. At any rate, yesterday was hot and muggy. Yuck! Good thing Mommy and I decided to stay in and just relax.

I was a good boy, and my reward was a visit from mi abuela. I spit up on her a little bit. Whoops! Lo siento a abuela!

My feeding schedule is still not quite a schedule. But it is getting better, I swear. I sleep better at night now. But Daddy isn't. It's not my fault, go ask him what his problem his.

Today should be relaxing, and I hope to finally figure out how to flip onto my side. I am getting so close!

Cranky Sunday

I don't know what it is about Sundays that make me so cranky.

But Mommy & Daddy say it is a good thing I am so cute. I don't know what that means, but it sounds like trouble.

I have discovered that I can jam my whole hand into my mouth. This usually causes some spit up. I guess I am getting this Hollywood actor thing down!

Hopefully today will be a better day!

Hot Saturday

Yesterday was near 100 degrees here in the valley. Not pleasant!

But we stayed inside and stayed cool. Nothing too exciting happened yesterday. I am starting to do this super cute thing while I eat. I am holding the bottle. Sadly, Mommy & Daddy have not been able to capture it on film.

I had a pretty good day yesterday sleeping. During the day I am staying awake longer, wanting to play or sometime just lay in the playpen and coo.

Last night I tricked Daddy. He fed me at midnight, then put me in the crib to sleep. I slept for 2 hours, then woke up. Daddy has been trying to get me to eat more, but less often, so he decided to entertain me until I really REALLY wanted food. I thought, why not? Daddy is pretty silly sometimes.

Anyway, he held me and was talking to me and I started getting a little sleepy. So did Daddy. Next thing we both know is that it is 5 am, and we had fallen asleep on the couch. It was pretty cool!

Love to everyone!

Learning to Share

Yesterday when I went to use my bouncy chair, I discovered someone was already using it!
At first I was upset, then Mommy said I needed to learn to share. So, I let Hobbes play. I turned my attention to playing on my tummy.

I love being on my tummy. It is fun, for awhile.

The Padres won again, so that was cool. Daddy & I watched HBO's Deadwood.
It was the first time we watched it. It was very good, as Poppa & Gramma K have told us. I am glad Daddy put it in the Netflix list. Speaking of Poppa & Gramma...I wonder where they are now? I haven't heard from them in awhile.

I forgot to mention that on Wednesday my Uncle Gary tried to come see me, but I was way too cranky and it was way too late. I am sorry Uncle Gary!

Too Much

Yesterday there was just too much going on.

We went to the vet for Monique to get a pedicure, then we went to the doctor for Mommy. She needed her post baby check up. We were at the doctor's for WAY WAY too long. I got cranky, but decided to save it until later.

Then we had to go to the bank, then to something called an HOA for Daddy. He spent too much time in there. Mommy had to entertain me in the car the whole time.

Finally we got home and there was a surprise for me. Gramma Maggie (still trying to figure out exactly what to call her) was there! Yeah!

So I spent some quality time with her while Mommy & Daddy ate and took care of some stuff around the house.

After Gramma Maggie left, I was kind of tired, so slept a little bit. Then I remembered that I was really good while we were out, and now I needed revenge. I waited until after Mommy went to sleep, and even let Daddy sleep for 2 hours, then the fun began. I was cranky from 12:30 am until 2:45 am. I wasn't gassy, nor was I hungry. I just wanted to be awake and make Daddy entertain me. It was fun!

Thursday Surprise

Daddy stayed home today! Mommy has to go to the doctor for a check up, so Daddy stayed home.

Last night went well. I slept almost 3 hours at a time between feedings. Daddy was sure happy. He let Mommy sleep all night. Cool.

I was a pretty good boy most of yesterday. Nothing too exciting to report. Sorry.

Daddy has some more pictures, but the batteries died in the camera, so you will have to wait until tomorrow!

Summer Begins!

Woo hoo! School's out! Wait...getting a little ahead of myself. Maybe I should focus on sleeping through the night and crawling first.

It's pretty crazy just how little or how much you do in a day. You never realize it until you write it down.

The big news from yesterday was that Daddy opened an ING account for me. How could he not? It's motto is GO ORANGE! And Daddy went to Syracuse, so it's a no brainer. Not to mention that it pays a nice yield. Anyway, if anyone wants to open an account, email matthewkobus@gmail.com. If I refer someone to ING I can get some bonus cash!

Daddy opened the account with some of Mommy & Daddy's money, plus some of the money people have sent me. I think I will post a monthly update on how much I have saved for college or a car. Daddy isn't sure yet. He's hoping scholarship!

ING account (6/21/06) = $100.00

Also yesterday I did some "assisted" crawling. I pump my little legs, but get nowhere. But if Mommy or Daddy put their hand behind my feet, I can push off and squirm along. COOL!

Gramma, Poppa, Aunt Amy, Cousin Justin & Cousin Grace are touring the country right now, and although the were not in Idaho, I thought they might appreciate this picture taken after the storm Gramma was talking about.

Boring Monday

Wow, I wish there was more to report. But, frankly, Monday was pretty boring. I wasn't very tired most of the day, so I wore Mommy out.

She was very happy when Daddy got home. We had some dinner, and watched some TV. I had a little bit of tummy time. I like it for some reason, but still not getting anywhere.

Daddy says I slept weird. I thought I slept fine, but he says I stayed asleep in the crib for a longer time than normal. So, what was the problem? Dreams apparently. I gurgled and laughed and made all sorts of noises while I slept. This made Daddy, then Mommy, have to keep getting up to see what the heck was going on.

Silly new parents. They need to learn that some noises are just that, noises. Don't mean a thing if I ain't screaming. But, I guess they are concerned I am going to spit up all over the place (I have a history of such things.)

Well for nothing to report, this sure was long. Love to all!

Juneteenth

What do you all mean, you have never heard of it?

Today is the worldwide celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. It dates back to 1865 in Galveston, Texas. For more, check out the site.

Yesterday was a pretty good day for me. The Padres won (of course they did, it was Father's day afterall). I ate some , and had some good tummy time. I am very frustrated by the fact that I can't crawl yet. Daddy says that it is okay, but I got places to go.

Also yesterday I got my first grab of Jackson. Daddy was holding me up and letting the furries check me out when I reached out and grabbed Jackson. He didn't mind, but man did I end up with a TON of Jackson hair on my hands. It was pretty cool.

Off to spend the day with Mommy!

Happy Father's Day

I am not sure what I am going to do today for my Daddy, but I started it with a massive poopy diaper at 12:38 am. Does that count as my gift?

Since this is my first Father's Day, I am unsure how to act. So, I guess I will follow Daddy's lead, as he knows how a son should act on this day.

This is what Daddy says:

Every day of a son's life he should try and remember all the wisdom his father as given to him. Through encouragement, coaching, discipline, and most importantly, just plain talking. A son spends everyday trying to be the best man he can be. He tries to be his own man, then realizes that to be the best man, he should just be more like his old man.

On Father's Day, the only difference is that Hallmark gets involved. If Father's Day is the only day you celebrate your Dad, it's better than nothing. But if your dad is like Daddy's Dad, then you have cause to celebrate every day!

Happy Father's Day Daddy! Happy Father's Day Poppa K!
Daddy and I Love you very much.

Special 2nd Posting of the Day

Well, the trip to the store went well. Mommy & Daddy are becoming "quick" shoppers. I guess it helps them buy only what we really need.

We stopped at Taco Bell on the way home, then watched USA soccer fight for a draw with Italy. Thank goodness Ghana beat Czech Republic! But still, a win would have been better. Then, we switched to the Padres Game. Which was okay.

Jake pitched pretty well, but the boys have NO offense. None. I hit better with my eyes closed.
The boys were winning 1-0, the Jake gave up a homer. Then, weird stuff. Dave Roberts slid into the wall trying to make a catch, he missed, and then couldn't get up. So, a 2 run inside-the-park-homerun was scored. Bah!

They are trying to make it interesting in the 9th. Losing 3-2, two on, two out, and Baby Barfield is up.

Mommy went out with her Mommy about an hour ago, so it is just me and my Daddy. Should be interesting. Daddy has to do laundry and dishes while attending to my needs. COOL!

Nice try by Josh, but a great play by 3B, and that's it. 3-2 Padres lose. hmm, almost time to eat again!

Saturday Fun!

Just a quick post to say hello to the world. I will do a special posting later.

But right now we have to go shopping. I like the driving part, but not the shopping, at least not really.

Glad to see the Padres win a game they should have lost. Hope to hear from Gramma today to see where they are on their big trip.

A little cranky

Hello!

I was cranky yesterday. Padres lost, and I just didn't feel like sticking to a schedule. I wore Mommy out. She was happy to hand me over to Daddy when he got home from work.

I didn't sleep all that well, so neither did Daddy. His knee hurt, so maybe it was more the knee's fault than mine. Hopefully today will be a better day.

Beat LA! Beat LA!

Ah, twice as nice!

I got to see Trevor Hoffman for the 1st time ever. Pretty cool. I can't wait to go to my first game. Unlike the day before, I wanted to see this game, so instead of going to sleep, I surprised Daddy by staying awake. Yes, I was a little bit of a fuss-face.

Daddy fixed Mommy's car. I didn't know he had it in him. Mommy didn't either. We are all impressed.

I got some good tummy-time yesterday, but still no real crawling. I kind of rock a little bit, maybe a slight shimmy, but no real motion. But I do like trying, except when I am on the floor, I am an easy target for drive-by licks from furries! When they lick my head my eyes goes super wide with surprise.

No picture today (sorry Gramma). Love to everyone!

Beating LA = Good Sleep!

Mommy said I was pretty good yesterday during the day. I spit up a lot, but hey, I'm a baby, it is what I do.

When Daddy got home we watched him remove the dead battery from Mommy's car (he didn't even hurt himself!)

We had dinner and watched a little TV. I slept while they watched something that bored me.

Then it was time for some BASEBALL! I watched my first few innings. What fun! Daddy keep surprising me with "YES" and "ARGH". Even after I fell asleep (with Padres beating LA 4-0) Daddy kept waking me up. When he did I looked like this:

This is my "startle" pose. Or maybe I am conducting an orchestra.

More likely I am just saying "WHOA!"

I woke up just in time to witness potential Padre history, but alas, no hitting for the cycle for Mike Cameron.

But as long as the Padres won (9-1, take that LA), I am able to sleep well.

Daddy didn't however, but I swear it is not my fault. Well another game tonight, so I must rest up so I can watch more with Daddy.

One more thing. I had a major spit up adventure that caused Daddy to have to change my clothes, my blanket, and his shirt too! AWESOME! Direct hit.

Gas Hurts

No, I am not talking about prices at the pumps (although I hear that is not good).

I am talking about good old fashioned gas in the body. I am a gassy baby and I HATE it. It makes me upset, which then upsets Mommy, Daddy, Monique & Jackson. (Luna, Calvin & Hobbes don't seem to get upset, just concerned). Gas makes me feel like this:

NOT HAPPY!

And that Mylicon stuff does not seem to work. I have to be burped while walking. Just sitting doesn't work, I HAVE to be in motion. Weird.

This is also how the Padres make me feel. I hope Cool Uncle Jason will help me play baseball, I hear that he and Cousin Justin are WAY better than Daddy.

Yesterday when I was not fighting the GAS FACE (hit 'em in the grill Pete). Sorry, I let Daddy type for a moment. I forgot what I was saying...

Anyway, yesterday Mommy's Mommy came over, so that was awesome. I was very alert yesterday. I was just soaking up the world, as my vision is gradually improving to see beyond 15" now!

This is how I look at the world.
Like Daddy's sticker says

"I LOVE THE WHOLE DUMB WORLD"

Talk to you all later!

Monday Monday

La la la la la(everyone sing along)

Just a quick post this morning to say that yesterday was a good day. And last night I slept like this
Picture from last night Gramma!

I also slept like this:

Well the USA is already losing, and I'm upset. I got a good night's sleep just so Mommy & I could watch the match. They are ruining it, just like the Padres ruined my weekend.

Talk at you all later!

Lazy Sunday

So this weekend Mommy wanted to help Daddy get some more sleep, because he has been feeling sick. To do this, Mommy sent Daddy to bed at 10 pm and then woke him up around 3 am. She then went to bed herself until 10 am. Daddy doesn't seem tired now, but he is feeling a little sick, so I will try and be good.

We watched some movies this weekend, because Daddy started up his Netflix account again. Mommy & Daddy watched the movies, while I slept or ate. I have no interest in TV yet.

I am starting to eat a little more than 3 ounces at a time now. I sleep almost 3 hours at a time at night now, abut only like 2 during the day. I guess it's okay.

Daddy says he will be able to help me post a picture every other day now. So here is today's picture.
This pacifier was a gift from Daddy's friend Jim, who works with Daddy.

Gramma K is holding me and you can see Monique and Mommy in the background!

Funny!

Happy Birthday Calvin & Hobbes

No, not the fantastic Bill Waterson collection Calvin & Hobbes , but the once tiny kitties!

We celebrated their one year birthday by doing a whole lot of nothing. It was a pretty good day. When Daddy got home he decided that we should go get some dinner. Big mistake!

First, it took too long to get ready so Monique was barking like crazy. Then we got stuck behind some idiot driver who took forever to turn. I expressed my displeasure by starting to cry. Fortunately Daddy starting driving. Unfortunately he was in the mood for Arby's.

He should know better by now. The local Arby's probably has the worst customer service ever. We got in the drive thru lane only to watch the truck in front of us finally get frustrated and leave. That still left us 2nd. I was getting impatient, so Daddy parked the car and went in. This way Mommy could hold me if I wanted.

Daddy was gone for like 7 minutes and he came out with NO FOOD! Mommy was mad, and so was I. Daddy said the line was not moving and the 2 cashiers were laughing about the mistakes they were making. Daddy couldn't stand it anymore, so we left.

Driving to the next place, I fell asleep. But, then, Daddy selected McDonald's. Normally the drive -thru moves quickly there, but not today. I started to WAIL! I couldn't stop. There was nothing Mommy could do to make me stop. Monique got into the act too, barking at everything. It was horrible. Mommy & Daddy didn't know what to do, so they laughed. I don't know why it was funny to them, but I guess it was better than crying.

As soon as we left and Daddy started to drive, I was fine. Maybe someday I will be a race car driver. Well, I woke up early today to watch some World Cup action. England won, but I was not impressed. Beckham was pretty cool, but I liked the tall guy Crouch. Funny, he being 6' 7" and being named Crouch. Like jumbo shrimp.

Wow, I had alot to sy today. But now I am sleepy, or hunrgy...I can never tell.

I'm Official

At least according to the US Government. I have my own Social Security Number. Now Daddy can open up that account for me! Cool!

Got another card yesterday, this one from Daddy's Aunt Jane & Uncle Moose (that's funny). It seems like my family is very, very big. Can't wait to meet everyone. When is that gonna happen Daddy?

Last night was not so good. I wasn't sleepy, and Daddy wasn't feeling good, so it was tough. I hope Daddy doesn't fall asleep at work!

I promise to have a few new pictures up this weekend. As far as I know, no big plans this weekend, but who knows.

And this is odd, but the sound of a soda can opening ("sskkssh") startles me. I don't know why, but it does. Weird!

Good Day

Happy Thursday!

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I got to see my Gramma W, so that was cool.

I got another card from family telling my parents how awesome I am. This one was from Daddy's Aunt Elaine & Uncle Gary back in Syracuse.

I forgot to mention that I also got a card from Daddy's Aunt Carol and Uncle John, as well as super cool gifts from Daddy's cousin Wendy and her family. Daddy has some pictures to send, but he has been busy at work this week.

After Gramma left yesterday I was practically an angel! I slept like 3 hours between meals, except after my 8:30 pm feeding. Then I slept for 4! Daddy was so happy! Not only did I sleep the whole time, but I slept in my crib. COOL!

Well now that I am rested I plan on being quite the pain in the butt today for Mommy. Such is life.

One Month Old Today!

Woo hoo!

One month. Feels like only yesterday, yet it also feels like a year. I have done alot in my first month, but I feel month #2 is going to be much busier.

Yesterday was pretty good. I spit up alot again, I am not sure I am liking the new formula. I will have to keep trying it for a few more days.

I was pretty good yesterday, according to Mommy. I slept better last night. Daddy was supposed to do some work while I slept, but he fell asleep too!

CORRECTION: The time of birth is incorrect on the nursery page. I was born at 15:46, or 3:46 for you non-military type. I think someone screwed up at the hospital, or in data entry. Looks like they forgot the 1!

Padres are making my Gramma K mad, so for all you Padres reading this. C'MON, get with the program!

6-6-6

Interesting date today.

I did my part to make today hell for Daddy by not letting him sleep too much last night! I wasn't hungry or in any pain, just didn't feel like sleeping longer than 10 minutes at a time.

I feel kind of tired now, so maybe I will be good for Mommy today.

Yesterday was National Spit-Up Day, didn't anyone else get the memo? It was fun to see how many clothing changes I can get in a day. My new record is 5! Hee hee.

Padres lost, so that was a bummer. But Daddy did put me on my tummy to see what I could do. I can grunt, lift my head, and then cry. I like being on my stomach, but only for a few moments. Then I want Mommy to pick me up and hold me.

Am I being spoiled? You betcha, and I deserve it!

One last thing. My nusery pictures can be seen at by clicking here

Good Monday Morning

Hello World!

Sunday was a pretty good day (especially considering how horrible Saturday night was!)

I guess my fussing at 3 am was the final straw for Mommy & Daddy, because Sunday we went to the store to find Dr. Brown's bottles. They are somehow engineered better to reduce gas.

And let me tell you, my nickname around the house is quickly becoming Sir Gas-A-Lot.

It was very hot again, but I enjoyed the ride in the car, as long as the sun wasn't in my face. Mommy sits in the back with me, so it looks like Daddy is a chauffeur.

I am not sure if the bottles are working or not, but last night wasn't so bad. At least I didn't think so. I hope the weather gets a little cooler so we can take our evening walk. I love being outside.

Late Post

I would like to say that my post is late because I was busy sleeping, but nope.

Stupid Adelphia cable. I guess it got too hot for them today. 98, new Matthew Era Record.

Anyway, the cable modem was out most of the morning. Then I made my first visit to Sam's Club. I must say I was not impressed. It was too loud to sleep, and not interesting enough to stay awake. I made Daddy carry me for most of the trip. I bet he enjoyed that.

We got home to a bunch of phone calls from Mommy's family. Soon, a parade of people came over. Mommy's cousin Daniela, Great Aunt Patti, Gramma Evans, and Cousin Daniela's aunt, but not related to her mom, so no relation to me? I don't know.

This kept me busy, I am such a ladies man. All the girls love me!

After they all left, Quiero Taco Bell! But, Daddy gave me formula instead. Mommy, Daddy, Monique and I went for Taco Bell. Mommy & Daddy thought feeding me right before a little drive was gonna knock me out so they could eat.

SURPRISE! I made Mommy have a cold taco, and Daddy couldn't finish his Zesty Chicken Bowl before it got cold too! Ha!

That's when I realized that I haven't blogged today. And then the stupid cable was out again!

So, that was my day today.

Buenas noches.

A decent night's sleep

Hi Everybody!

I didn't post last night like I usually do, because I actually did some sleeping. Mommy & Daddy were very happy.

Yesterday was the last day mi bisabuela (great grandmother) will be here in the states. She goes back to Chile today. I can't wait to go to Chile! Anyway, I spent most of yesterday just holding and hugging her. When she left I cried. Daddy doesn't hold me the same way, so I was cranky.

But then the family (Mommy, Daddy, Monique, and I) went for a small drive. That calmed me down, so by the time we got home, I was very sleepy.

I slept pretty good. Almost 3 hours at a time. Hopefully this won't make me cranky today. The weekend is going to be a hot one, so hopefully no brownouts!

Talk to you all soon!
